Fall Conference Church History Tour
Come with us on this amazing trip back in time as we visit the sites where many memorable events happened that helped shape The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The prophet Joseph Smith received his first vision in the spring of 1820. From that time until the saints left Winter Quarters bound for Zion, their lives were filled with many trials and blessings, pinnacled with the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum. On this tour your testimony will be strengthened as you personally visit these historic sites. |

Grandin Building where the Book of Mormon was printed, then we'll walk up a little hill to see the Grave Site of Alvin Smith, eldest brother of Joseph Smith. Day 4: Sun, Sep 27, 2008 - Kirtland
Following Sacrament meeting we'll see the Temple Quarry and have a picnic lunch. Next, we visit the Kirtland Temple. Relative to the meager resources of the Saints at the time, the Kirtland Temple is probably the most costly temple ever constructed by the Church. We spend the rest of the afternoon at the LDS Visitor's Center, the Whitney Store, the Ashery, Sawmill, and other restored buildings. Spend the night in Eastlake at the Radisson Hotel.(Meals: B,L,D)
Day 5: Mon, Sep 28, 2008 - Kirtland - St. Louis - Hannibal - Nauvoo
We depart this morning for Hiram, OH to visit the John Johnson Farm. It was at the Johnson farm that Joseph Smith received the vision of the three degrees of glory. We will end this side of our tour as we travel via airplane to St, Louis, MO. Here will board our new motorcoach and head up the Mississippi River to Hannibal where we will get to have a dinner cruise on the “Old River”. Following dinner we will complete our day in Nauvoo at the Nauvoo Family Inn and Suites. (Meals: B,D)
Day 6: Tue, Sep 29, 2008 - Nauvoo
This morning we will browse through the many restored homes and buildings that take you back to “old Nauvoo” when the saints were colonizing and expanding! You won’t want to miss the homes of Brigham Young, John Taylor, Heber C. Kimball, Lucy Mack Smith, and the Jonathan Browning Gun Shop. Our afternoon stops will include the Joseph Smith’s homestead, the gravesites of Joseph, Emma, Hyrum, the Mansion House, and the Red Brick Store. After dinner we will enjoy a musical production called “Rendezvous” at the Cultural Hall before returning to the hotel for the evening. Overnight at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites (Meals: B,L,D)
Day 7: Wed, Sep 30, 2008 - Nauvoo - Carthage
Our day begins with a Temple session at the Nauvoo Temple (Attendance at the Temple is optional). This afternoon, we will travel the old road to Carthage where we will view a production of the “Life of the Prophet Joseph Smith” that is shown exclusively at the Visitor’s Center. Next, we will tour the jail itself where the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were martyred. After an early dinner at the Nauvoo Restaurant we will walk the “Trail of Hope” and read exerts from personal diaries of the Saints. Your understanding will increase as you read about the hardships and struggles they went through. (Meals: B,L,D)
Day 8: Thu, Oct 01, 2008 - Nauvoo - Adam-ondi-Ahman - Far West - Liberty
This morning we will stop by the Old Pioneer Cemetary and then sadly bid farewell to Nauvoo as we travel for Independence. Sightseeing today will include Adam-ondi-Ahman, where many significant events have taken place and where important future events will occur. We will also visit Far West and see the temple site. Tonight we will enjoy our farewell dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Kansas City at the Sheraton Hotel. (Meals: B,L,D)
Day 9: Fri, Oct 02, 2008 - Independence - Salt Lake City

After lunch we will have the opportunity to visit Liberty Jail where the Prophet Joseph and 5 others spent several winter months during the expulsion of the Saints from Missouri. Several important sections of the Doctrine and Covenants were given to Joseph while imprisoned here. This will be the end of the tour as we make our way to the airport to fly home with stronger testimonies and a greater love and understanding for the Prophet, Joseph Smith. (Meals: B)
